About Chroma Wellness Center

Chroma Wellness Center was created with a simple but powerful belief:
Everyone deserves a place to heal, grow, and be fully seen.

We are a mental health, addiction recovery, and wellness center rooted in the LGBTQIA+ community—founded not only to provide expert care, but to offer something deeper: a place of belonging.

Our Story – Built for the LGBTQIA+ Community

Chroma Wellness Center was born out of a deep personal calling by founder and CEO Ryan Sturdevant to address the significant gaps in mental health and addiction services for the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities.

As a husband and father, Ryan understands the urgent need for equity, inclusion, and safety in mental health care. His vision for Chroma is rooted not only in his 17+ years of professional experience in behavioral health, but also in his personal dedication to ensuring that families like his feel supported, affirmed, and welcomed into a healing space.

The journey began when Ryan completed an LGBTQ Executive Leadership Program, where he was inspired by peers who were transforming their communities through meaningful contributions. That experience sparked a realization: he could use his career expertise to create something desperately needed—a safe, affirming treatment space where queer individuals could seek care without fear of judgment or misunderstanding.

The pivotal moment came while leading an LGBTQ support group in a treatment center that had no dedicated queer-focused programming. Clients revealed that they avoided discussing their identities or trauma in other groups because they didn’t feel safe. For Ryan, this was the moment of clarity—proof that a space built specifically for LGBTQIA+ individuals was not just wanted, but essential.

Initially hesitant to launch his own program, Ryan found his answer on a mountain run: he needed to create an LGBTQ-focused mental health center. Over the next several years, he laid the groundwork—building relationships, refining the vision, and developing a model rooted in evidence-based care and deep cultural competence.

Today, Chroma Wellness Center stands as one of the few programs in the nation offering primary mental health care exclusively for the LGBTQIA+ community, with a focus on long-term outpatient treatment. The mission is not just clinical—it’s human: to provide a space where people can heal, grow, and thrive, supported by providers who fully understand and affirm their identities.
