Medication Management & Psychiatry in Denver

LGBTQIA+ Treatment Built for Autistic Adults

Chroma Wellness Center supports autistic LGBTQIA+ adults seeking treatment in Denver through our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Most autistic adults come to us for mental health, trauma, or substance use concerns, looking for treatment that affirms how their brain actually works.

At Chroma Wellness, you do not have to mask, perform “neurotypical,” or earn your way into accommodations. Our team understands autism, and treatment is built around you.

Conditions Commonly Supported With Medication

Medication can help with a wide range of mental health concerns when it is the right fit.

Common areas of support:

  • Anxiety and panic disorders
  • Depression and mood disorders
  • Bipolar disorder
  • PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
  • ADHD
  • Co-occurring substance use and mental health concerns

Identity-Affirming Psychiatric Care

Affirming care means your identity is not treated as a symptom, and your history is not treated as a red flag.

What that looks like in practice:

  • No pathologizing of your gender, sexuality, or relationships
  • Awareness of how prescribed medications can interact with gender-affirming care
  • Understanding of how minority stress shows up in mental health symptoms
  • No assumptions about your substance use history or recovery goals
  • Informed consent and choice at every step

You stay in the driver’s seat of your own care.

Why LGBTQIA+ Clients Choose Chroma for Psychiatric Care

Many of our clients have been misread, dismissed, or talked over by past providers. Our psychiatric care is built differently.

  • Board-certified psychiatrist with experience treating the LGBTQIA+ community
  • Integrated with your full treatment team, not siloed
  • Weekly check-ins, not 15-minute prescription refills
  • Identity-affirming prescribing and decision-making
  • Discharge planning that connects you to an outpatient psychiatrist for ongoing care

We believe medication decisions belong to you, supported by people who actually understand the picture.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I need a formal autism diagnosis to start treatment?

No. Medication is offered when it could help, not required. Many of our clients use medication as part of treatment, and many do not. The decision is always yours, in conversation with our psychiatrist.

Yes. Our psychiatrist will review what you are taking, why it was prescribed, and whether any adjustments would help. Continuity matters, and we are not in the business of changing what is already working.

Yes. Our psychiatrist works with clients on hormone therapy and is aware of how psychiatric medications can interact with gender-affirming care. Coordination with your prescribing provider is always part of the plan.

If your symptoms are interfering with daily life, if therapy alone has not been enough, or if you are wondering whether medication could help, a psychiatric evaluation can offer clarity. You do not need a referral to start the conversation.

Yes, when clinically appropriate. ADHD treatment is part of what we offer, and medication decisions are made between you and the psychiatrist based on your full clinical picture.

Discharge planning includes connecting you to an outpatient psychiatrist or primary care provider for ongoing prescriptions and follow-up. Your case manager helps coordinate this so there is no gap in care.

We work with most major insurance plans. Our team handles the verification process and gives you a clear picture of your costs before you begin.
