LGBTQIA+-Affirming Acupuncture in Denver
Acupuncture is one of the holistic services woven into care at Chroma Wellness Center as part of our PHP and IOP programs for all clients. Our mental health, trauma, and substance use treatment programs incorporate healing nervous system practices like acupuncture for LGBTQIA+ individuals in Denver, CO.
Ancient Nervous System Healing
Anxiety, disrupted sleep, cravings, and that wired-but-exhausted feeling often live in the body, not just the mind. For many LGBTQIA+ individuals, years of stress, trauma, and not feeling safe leave the nervous system hypervigilant and on high alert.
Acupuncture is a holistic practice that helps regulate the nervous system. Used for more than 2,500 years, it can ease anxiety, support better sleep, help with cravings in early recovery, and bring a sense of calm that talk therapy alone does not always reach.
Acupuncture at Chroma Wellness
Acupuncture at Chroma Wellness is part of a broader Traditional Chinese Medicine practice that views the body as an interconnected whole. Very fine, sterile needles are placed at specific points to help restore balance and encourage your body’s natural ability to heal. Your practitioner may also use related approaches like cupping.
Every session is tailored to you. Our practitioners are guided by what your body is telling them and shape each visit around what you need that day, rather than following a fixed routine.
It is a space to slow down, rest, and listen inward.
The care is built into your treatment week:
- In PHP, you attend a one-hour Traditional Chinese Medicine session each week.
- In IOP, you have one 30-minute acupuncture session each week.
What Affirming Acupuncture Looks Like At Chroma
Body-based care asks a lot of trust. Many LGBTQIA+ people have had healthcare experiences that felt unsafe or dismissive, and that history does not disappear in treatment.
At Chroma, acupuncture happens in an affirming space where your identity is respected, and consent guides your treatment experience. You’ll be cared for by credentialed practitioners working within a structured, LGBTQIA+-centered program, so affirming care is simply how the care is delivered.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Can acupuncture help with mental health?
Yes. Acupuncture can ease anxiety, support sleep, and help regulate the nervous system, which is why it’s offered alongside therapy and psychiatry at Chroma. It works best as one part of a holistic treatment plan rather than on its own.
Is acupuncture safe if I take a blood thinner like Eliquis?
Let your care team know about any blood thinners before your session. Acupuncture can often still be done safely with small adjustments, and your practitioner and medical team will decide together what makes the most sense for you.
Does acupuncture help with anxiety?
Many people find acupuncture calming, and it’s frequently used to lower anxiety and support emotional regulation. At Chroma, acupuncture is paired with therapy and other support, as part of a whole-person treatment plan.
Do I need to sign up for acupuncture separately?
No. Acupuncture is built into our PHP and IOP programs, so it is included as part of your treatment rather than something you enroll in separately.
